Job Summary:

The Chief Sales Officer (CSO) will be responsible for developing and executing the company’s sales strategy, overseeing the entire sales organization, and driving revenue growth. This role involves working closely with the executive team, building relationships with key stakeholders, and ensuring the alignment of the sales function with broader business objectives. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of scaling sales in a B2B SaaS environment, with deep experience in managing teams, driving complex sales cycles, and expanding into new markets.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Sales Strategy & Execution: Define, develop, and implement the company’s sales strategy to achieve revenue growth, market expansion, and profitability goals. Ensure alignment with overall company objectives.

Team Leadership: Lead, inspire, and scale a high-performing global sales organization, including Sales Development Representatives (SDRs), Account Executives, Sales Managers, and Customer Success. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and performance.

Revenue Growth: Drive top-line revenue growth by leading direct and indirect sales channels, expanding into new verticals, and maximizing the potential of existing customers.

Sales Process Optimization: Continuously refine and optimize the sales process, from lead generation and qualification to deal closure and customer retention. Implement tools and processes to enhance efficiency and reporting.

Forecasting & Reporting: Provide accurate sales forecasting, tracking key metrics such as sales pipeline, win rates, deal velocity, and customer acquisition costs. Report regularly to the executive team and board on sales performance and revenue goals.

Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain relationships with key customers and partners. Support the sales team in closing large, complex deals and manage high-stakes negotiations.

Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with Marketing, Product, Customer Success, and Finance to ensure alignment on go-to-market strategies, pricing models, customer feedback, and market trends.

Sales Team Development: Drive recruitment, training, and development of the sales team to ensure continuous growth and skill enhancement. Implement coaching, performance management, and recognition programs.

Market Expansion: Identify and evaluate new market opportunities, including international expansion, product diversification, and strategic partnerships to grow the company’s market share.

Customer-Centric Focus: Ensure that the sales team is aligned with customer success initiatives and is delivering value at every stage of the customer journey, from onboarding to expansion and retention.

 

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field (MBA preferred).

• 10+ years of experience in sales leadership roles, with at least 5+ years of experience in B2B SaaS sales at the executive level.

• Proven track record of scaling sales organizations and delivering consistent revenue growth in a high-growth SaaS environment.

• Strong understanding of SaaS sales models, including subscription-based pricing, ARR/MRR, and customer retention metrics.

• Experience managing large sales teams across multiple geographies and selling to enterprise or mid-market clients.

• Deep knowledge of sales tools and technologies (e.g., CRM systems like Salesforce, sales engagement platforms, analytics tools).

• Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire teams and foster a high-performance culture.

• Strong financial acumen, with experience managing budgets, forecasting, and performance analysis.

• Ability to navigate complex sales cycles and negotiate high-value deals with senior stakeholders.

• Experience in international market expansion and managing a diverse, global customer base is a plus.

 

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in a startup or high-growth SaaS company environment.

• Familiarity with sales methodologies like Challenger Sales, Solution Selling, or MEDDIC.

• Experience with fundraising or strategic partnerships is an advantage.
